Wood Lake Scout Reservation is comprised of two major camps and 2 primitive camps: Camp Tamarack, Camp Will Welber, Cam Dan Beard, and Camp Jim Bridger.
Camp Tamarack, a part of Wood Lake Scout Reservation, is in Jones, Michigan. The property consists of more than 500 acres of heavily wooded land and two glacial lakes, lovingly called Big Wood Lake, and Little Wood Lake. Enjoy nature on the miles of trails we have to offer!
We offer fifteen campsites scattered in the woods on the north side of Wood Lake. Scouts camp in tents, which they bring and pitch themselves. Camp Tamarack also has three cabins available for rent hosting up to twenty-four people. In addition to the cabins and campsites, Camp Tamarack has a dining hall, shower house, health lodge, and of course, a well-stocked trading post!
Scouting America and the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has rated Camp Tamarack as a Nationally Accredited Camp. This means that each year, Camp Tamarack meets or exceeds the standards of being a safe, healthy, and quality camping experience for all Scouts and Scouters. Camp Tamarack maintains a policy of non-discrimination regarding race, ethnicity, creed, religion, or disability in all phases of its programs and operations. Life when you’re at Camp Tamarack is just better and helps to build Leadership Skills, Unit Engagement, and Scouting Spirit.

Every summer, Camp Tamarac offers over 40 individual merit badges and multiple programs/activities spread across camp. We are home to one of the most dedicated staffs in the region, if not the nation. They will go over and beyond to ensure everyone has a meaningful experience while at camp. All key staff and Program Area Directors have either attend a National Camping School or have been deemed qualified by national accreditation standards. The staff averages a returning rate of over 60 percent and collectively have over 300 summers of staffing experience. Come see why our staff are the best of the best!

Winter Lodges: Rotary Lodge and O.A. Lodge are identical in size and are rented from the weekend after Labor Day to the weekend before Memorial Day. Each lodge sleeps 24 people in 9 bunk beds with mattress in the campers area and 2 leader rooms that sleep 3 each with bed and mattress. O.A. and Rotary have kitchen with 4 burner electric cook top, refrigerator and sink. Bathroom has lavatory, toilet and shower. Heat is provided by a forced air heat pump with propane back up.
Blair Lodge sleeps 24 on 12 bunks with mattress. Food serving area with no cooking facilities ( cook on your camp stove). Water is available at the winter hydrant just outside the lodge. Pit toilet facilities at the latrine in Potawatomi campsite.

Wood Badge is the BSA’s premiere leadership training for adults. It provides six days of hands-on experience in the theory & practice, of skills appropriate for leading others, both within Scouting and in environments beyond the BSA. Wood Badge is designed to deliver immediate value to leaders involved throughout the Scouting Program. Your course will be facilitated by the best of the best. Proven leaders and experienced trainers, your staff will consist of men and women from all parts of scouting and from all walks of life. They are a diverse group of seasoned scouters. Upon successful completion of all course requirements, you will receive your certificate and Wood Badge beads, neckerchief and woggle. The Wood Badge experience has served as a source of inspiration and a practical guide to tens of thousands, who have earned their beads.

Audience and Cost: Register for a day of boating at Camp Tamarack to either start a new merit badge, or to hopefully complete a previously started partial.
