World Scout Scarf Day

August 1

This event has passed.

Description

August 1st is World Scout Scarf Day

It is a day to celebrate the unity and spirit of Scouting around the world. Scouts are encouraged to wear their neckerchiefs (or scarves) with pride, symbolizing their connection to the global Scouting movement. The day commemorates the first Brownsea Island Scout camp in 1907.

In addition to being World Scout Scarf Day, August 1st also marks the anniversary of the conversion of Exploring Posts to Venturing Crews in 1998. This means it’s also recognized as the birthday of Venturing, an arm of Scouting in the United States.

How do we celebrate in LaSalle Council?
– Wear your neckerchief!
– Share photos on social media (using hashtags like #WorldScoutScarfDay and #LaSalleCouncil).
– Participate in Scouting activities.
– You can also download our 2025 World Scout Scarf Day Certificate (PDF) to commemorate your participation.
